Metric Woodruff Keys are semicircular keyways used to lock rotating elements onto shafts. Woodruff Keys fit into a rounded slot cut into a shaft and a pulley or sprocket that has a slot cut into it is installed onto the shaft the slot slides over the woodruff key, creating an assembly that rotates as one unit.
